FAQs

Will my skin look orange? No. The sophisticated technology ensures a natural-looking bronzed tan. Our tan experts will assist you in determining the appropriate level of tanning solution for your skin tone.

What is sunless spray tanning? Sunless spray tanning is the application of tanning solution to your body via spray or mist. DHA (the active ingredient in tanning solution) reacts with the proteins in your skin's superficial layer to form a golden brown colour, leaving your skin looking healthy and refreshed – as if you've just returned from holidays. Two to three hours after application, your skin begins to darken and reaches its peak colour within 24 hours. The colour will fade gradually due to natural exfoliation, just like a sun tan, but without the risk of sun damage to your skin.

How should I prepare for my spray tanning session? Shave and exfoliate the day before or on the day of your spray tanning session (day before is preferred). Also, remove any old spray tan. We recommend that you avoid using moisturisers, perfumes, lotions, oils, or deodorants on the day of your Glo Getter tanning session to avoid creating a barrier between your skin and the tanning solution. After your first shower or bath, you can resume using these.

How long should I wait after a session before showering? To allow the DHA to fully set, we recommend waiting a minimum of two hours after a spray tanning session – or up to 4–8 hours for optimal results (depending on formula and desired outcome). Showering too soon may reduce the intensity of your tan. If you tan using the bronzer formula, the instant cosmetic colour will wash off in the shower, however the DHA will remain and continue to deepen your colour for up to 24 hours.

Will swimming affect my tan? Swimming in chlorinated or salt water can fade spray tanning results, as well as cause streaking and shorten the duration of your tan. Normal activities, such as bathing, showering, or exercising, will have minimal to no effect on the quality of your tan.

Does Glo Getter spray tanning solution have any smell after contact with my skin? Our spray tanning solution uses a breakthrough odour control technology designed to virtually eliminate the odour that may be present when the solution interacts with your skin.

Will the bronzing formula stain my clothing? The tanning solution which includes a cosmetic bronzer is water soluble. If it rubs off onto your clothing, in most cases the stains will be removed after the next wash in cold water. It is recommended to wear dark coloured clothing straight after your session. However, in some instances, the DHA in the tanning solution may permanently stain undergarments worn during the spray session. If you choose to wear your own underwear we recommend choosing black. Otherwise, we provide disposable G-strings. *The clear tanning formula will not stain clothing.

How long does a Glo Getter spray tan last? On average, a Glo Getter spray tan usually lasts around seven days. Depending on the formulation you choose, the condition of your skin and adherence to after care tips, it is possible to extend your tan for up to 10 days.

Are there ways to enhance the Glo Getter tanning results? Yes, all of Glo Getter's at-home products are designed to complement and extend the results of professional spray tanning. Many over-the-counter tanning products aren't designed for sunless tanners. They may block the tan’s application, and may inhibit the development process – creating uneven post-tan fading.

What is DHA? T Dihydroxyacetone, or DHA, is the most common active ingredient in spray tanning products such as tinted moisturisers, self-tanners, and spray tan solution. DHA is a carbohydrate molecule that has been approved for use in sunless tanning treatments that are administered externally. DHA is frequently obtained from plant sources such as beets or sugar cane. It's all-natural and won't harm your skin in any way.

Is Glo Getter spray tanning solution recommended for people with sensitivities or allergies? This product is safe, however, for those with skin sensitivities or allergies, it is recommended to consult a health care professional before using the product. A test patch should also be a consideration.

What happens if spray tanning solution gets in your eyes? It's not advised to use DHA in the eyes or the surrounding area. Closing your eyes during the spray tan process is sufficient in most cases however if you are particularly sensitive protective eyewear is recommended. If your eyes are irritating you, gently splash them with water. Consult a health care professional if you have any further questions or if the irritation persists.

What happens if the spray tanning solution is inhaled? It's not advised to inhale DHA. Most people find holding their breath for a few seconds as the tan mist is applied over the face is sufficient and do not experience irritation. However, if you have allergies or sensitivities nose filters are recommended. Consult a health care professional if you have any further questions or if any irritation persists.

What are the benefits of the marine algae ingredients in our products? The green and brown algae found in our tan formula consist of active ingredients Chlorellagen, Mitostime and Pheohydrane. This marine algae blend moisturises, oxygenates, detoxifies, and rejuvenates the skin – and rejuvenated skin produces a beautiful tan.
